Mystery Box Maisie

Is it just me or are the 14" Style Girls dolls sometimes hard to find?

I had this idea recently that I was going to get New Adventures Style Dreamers Maisie (or her Play Zone lookalike Quinn) to complete my review of these cute and affordable alternative to Wellie Wishers.

14" Style Girls Maisie and Quinn

But after coming up with zilch at Tuesday Morning and Big Lots stores, I put up an online wager at Burlington where you can easily order a New Adventures 14" Style Dreamers doll. The only catch is you get a "mystery box" Style Dreamer; you can't choose which doll they'll send you! (There was at least one reviewer who wasn't happy about this!)

I had actually gambled on Burlington a few weeks before and ended up with Melanie, not Maisie. But I didn't have Melanie so I was ok with it and was able to work her into my review all the same.

But I hadn't given up on Maisie just yet. The pig-tailed blue-eyed blonde "Dreamer" was the only 14" Style Girl I didn't have any version of, so I figured it was worth at least one more try. And at $12.99, Burlington Stores had better priced dolls than those you could get at a local store like Tuesday Morning anyway. What could I lose? I went for it.

And just saying, because I really needed one of these blonde dolls to conclude my review, I dropped another online order for Maisie's Big Lots twin Quinn. Just in case, you know.

So Burlington's mystery box arrived about a week later. I was honestly kind of hesitant to open it--I thought I'd probably get another Melanie and that would be disappointing. But whatever, I had decided the review needed to wrap up, with or without Maisie, enough of the delay already.

So I ripped open the package. Here's what I saw.

Omygosh Maisie! No way, right?

Moral of the story: I should have gotten Maisie when I first saw her on my quest for Charlie a few weeks earlier and saved myself some trouble.

But oh well, I had her again and that was good enough for me. :)

To complete the story, a few days later Quinn arrived from Big Lots, and I was able to finally conclude my 14" Style Girls review at last.

What an adventure. (No pun intended.)
